Real Madrid legend Dani Carvajal may end up in the Premier League in one of the most intriguing transfer plots of this season. The 34-year-old defender is looked upon by clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City and Fulham.
Former Real Madrid captain Carvajal, who left the Galácticos last season, was weighing options in MLS and the Saudi Pro League. However, Carvajal’s agents explored chances in the Premier League, and a few clubs stepped forward, intrigued by the proposal. As of now, Liverpool have not yet given a yes nod to the transfer.
The Reds have a problem in the right-back position this season. Seeking service from a legend like Carvajal would not be a blunder after all. However, Carvajal is far from his heyday, and at 34, it is unknown whether the player would match the intensity of the Premier League.
Jeremie Frimpong is the number one option for Liverpool in the right-back position this season. Araujo, who is on loan from Barcelona, did a terrific job when asked by the coach to fill the void in the position during the game against Ipswich.
Carvajal last earned £172,000 per week in Madrid. That makes him one of the highest earners in the Liverpool squad if the transfer works out. The chances are slim considering the financial situation of the club. It is rumoured that Liverpool coach Andoni Iraola’s decision will be final in the matter.
