Woman sends legal notice to actor Balu Varghese over alleged inappropriate behaviour

KOCHI: A woman has sent a legal notice to actor Balu Varghese, alleging that he touched her without consent and behaved inappropriately. She is seeking a written apology and an assurance that such conduct will not recur.

Speaking to The News Minute, the complainant said the incident left her deeply distressed. She alleged that the actor touched her inappropriately at a swimming pool and said she was certain the act was deliberate.

According to her account, she confronted him immediately. He initially said it was a mistake but apologised when she held her ground. After leaving the venue, she told her husband, who contacted the actor the next day. The actor reportedly repeated that the contact was accidental. The complainant, however, maintains that he grabbed her firmly and that it could not have been unintentional.

She said that after discussing the experience with women friends, she realised it was not an isolated case, which led her to pursue legal action.

The News Minute also reported on other women who have made allegations against the actor. One said she had an unpleasant experience with him at a friend’s birthday celebration in March last year, adding that such incidents occurred even when others were present. Another alleged that he behaved inappropriately at an event attended by colleagues and friends, and that he persisted despite her refusal, asking her, “Are you afraid of me?” A third woman alleged that he touched her without consent at the same event.

The complainant said she has received no response to the legal notice. According to the report, Balu Varghese was unavailable for comment on the allegations.
