THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The three-year ban imposed on former Indian cricketer S Sreesanth by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has been lifted. The ban was imposed for his remarks against the KCA in the controversy surrounding Sanju Samson's exclusion from the Indian team for the Champions Trophy. Action was taken against him after his remarks through visual and social media defamed the organization.
Following the controversial remarks, show cause notices were issued to Sreesanth and franchise teams Kollam Aries and Alleppey Ripples team lead contender Sai Krishnan. Sreesanth is the co-owner of the Kerala Cricket League franchise team Kollam Aries. Following the ban, Sreesanth filed a plea in the Munsif Court, but it was dismissed. Sreesanth later stepped forward and expressed regret.
The apology submitted by Sreesanth was discussed by the KCA Special General Body meeting held on July 1, 2026. The meeting unanimously decided to revoke the ban after considering his unconditional regret. The meeting warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken if such actions are repeated. With the ban being revoked, Sreesanth will be able to continue as the co-owner of the franchise team Kollam Aries.
The KCA has imposed a three-year ban on me. I don't know about the mistake committed. I supported God’s own country’s Sanju Samson. Apart from that, I have not said anything against the association. I said that if people in the association had played cricket, that is, if they had played cricket in a big level, it would have been better.
People like Tinu chettan (Tinu Yohannan) have been with the team for some time.
I only said that if people like Tinu Chettan had come to the association, it would have been a little better. I don't understand why they are twisting it and targeting me. I have no desire to become the president or secretary of the KCA. Or is it fear of votes? I don't know what it is. Anyway, I am thankful. We will always support Sanju and Malayali cricketers wherever they are in the world. Hearing Kerala makes my blood boil. Love you. Jai Hind, said Sreesanth.
