DUBAI: Indian cricketer Kranti Gaud was subjected to offensive remarks from some Pakistan fans during India's Women’s Asia Cup match against Pakistan. The fans reportedly made sexist comments targeting the Indian player’s appearance. The incident has sparked outrage after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The video shows some spectators making offensive remarks at Kranti while she was fielding near the boundary. Comments questioning whether the cricketer was a man can also be heard in the footage. However, the identities of the fans involved, as well as the person who recorded the video, have not been independently confirmed.
The incident comes amid growing concerns over body-shaming and sexist abuse faced by women athletes. Fans have called for strict action against such behaviour, both inside stadiums and on social media.
