THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Gold prices in Kerala rose on Tuesday, with the price of one sovereign increasing by Rs. 400 to Rs. 1,05,080. The price per gram climbed by Rs. 50 to Rs. 13,135.
The latest increase follows a rise on Monday, when gold was priced at Rs. 1,04,680 per sovereign and Rs. 13,085 per gram. A slight recovery in international gold prices contributed to the upward movement in domestic rates.
Meanwhile, Indian equity markets ended higher on Monday, snapping a four-session losing streak. The BSE Sensex gained 482.92 points to close at 73,606.75, while the NSE Nifty 50 advanced 153.20 points to 22,753.20.
Buying interest in metal, pharmaceutical and IT stocks supported the recovery. The Nifty Metal index rose 2.21%, while the healthcare and pharmaceutical indices gained 1.7% each. Shares of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories climbed nearly 7%, while JSW Steel and BSE also recorded gains.
However, investors remain cautious amid global uncertainty, elevated crude oil prices and a weakening rupee. The US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision and quarterly corporate earnings are expected to influence the market's next direction.
Silver prices remained unchanged on Tuesday. The rate stood at Rs. 220 per gram, Rs. 2,200 for 10 grams and Rs. 22,000 for 100 grams.
