CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has stayed the release of the upcoming film 'Neekkam', starring Dileep and directed by Jagan Shaji Kailas. The court issued the interim order based on a petition filed by producer A V Anoop. The court said the release was being stopped to protect the interests of the petitioner until the disputes related to the production agreement are resolved through arbitration proceedings.

The petition was filed over a financial dispute with the film’s producer Sandeep Senan. The petitioner alleged that the production agreement was violated and that a cheque issued by Sandeep had bounced. The film is being produced by Sandeep Senan and Alex E. Kurian under the banners of Urvashee Theatres and Kakka Stories.

The screenplay for the film has been written by debutant Vibin Balachandran, while Ajay David Kachappilly is handling cinematography. The makers had recently released the film’s title and first-look poster. The film features Dileep in a different look and revolves around the relationship between a father and his daughter. The movie also stars Binu Pappu, Ashokan, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Siddique, Veena Nandakumar, Bilas Chandrahasan, Siraj, Shari, Ramya Suresh, and Diya Deepan among others.
