CHENNAI: The divorce case between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and his wife Sangeetha Swarnalingam has taken a new turn. There are speculations that the two are likely to unite.
Some Tamil media reported that the settlement was due to the intervention of family members, including Vijay's mother Shobha Chandrasekhar. Unconfirmed reports say that Sangeetha, who was in London, has reached Chennai. Reports say an official announcement regarding this will be made on the actor’s birthday that falls on June 22. Neither Vijay nor Sangeetha have officially responded to the news that is presently circulating.
Sangeetha filed a divorce plea at the Chengalpattu family court. She filed the divorce plea alleging her husband’s illegal relationship with an actress. Reports say issues started in their marital life in 2021 itself. Although Sangeetha wanted a divorce by mutual consent, Vijay was initially unwilling to do so. It is reported that Vijay feared that his political career would be ruined. Sangeetha later approached the court.
Sangeetha became a fan of Vijay after watching the film 'Poove Unakkaga' released in 1996. Sangeetha came to Chennai from London just to meet Vijay in person. Sangeetha used to write letters to Vijay regularly while she was studying in the University of London. Their friendship blossomed into love and with the permission of their families, the two got married in August 1999. Sangeetha, who had appeared with Vijay for all the major events, was not seen in public for some time. There were reports later that the two had parted ways. Even when Vijay's parents appeared on TVK programs, Sangeetha and her children failed to appear.
