'Rs 99999 membership for VVIP customers'; Popular Tamil heroine faces criticism

These days, even mainstream actresses are experimenting with the subscription option on social media. Many of them amass large followings and fan bases. One of those former famed actresses, now sitting on that throne with exclusive content, is former actress and model Kiran Rathod. Eyebrows were raised when exclusive photos of Kiran went viral on social media a few months back. Kiran seems not to be backing out and has ignited a new controversy after announcing her new subscription rates.

Kiran announced a new offer of Rs 99999 for VVIP membership into her private app. This membership offers unlimited chats, video calls and entry into private groups and more. Some sections on social media are not happy with how things are going.

“What is happening? We know that models and actresses who offer subscriptions at Rs 299 and Rs 399 are earning lakhs in revenue in a month. And then comes Kiran with a subscription offer of Rs 99999. If this is not exploiting the viewers, then what is it? It would be appropriate if the government and the concerned officials take up some action to curb this trend," one comment came on social media.

Interestingly, a certain faction came up to defend Kiran and said there was no wrong in the actress putting up the offer for her exclusive photos.

Kiran rose to stardom after pairing opposite Vikram in the movie Gemini and then went on to do popular roles in Tamil. Kiran also acted as the female lead opposite actor Mohanlal in the movie Thandavam in 2002. Kiran last appeared in a Tamil adult comedy-drama, Mrs & Mr, which was released on July 11, 2025.
