NEW DELHI: Student and youth organisations will unite at Jantar Mantar on Saturday to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Leaders including SFI All-India President Adarsh M. Saji, AISF President Viraj, AISA President Neha Bora, and CJP Co-convenor Saurav Das stated at a joint press conference that the agitation would not end with Gyanesh's resignation but would continue until the electoral system is cleansed.
Youth organisations such as DYFI, AIYF, RYA, RYF, AIDYO, and AIYL will also join the protest. Saurav Das informed that the Parliament Street police station has been notified about the protest and that they would cooperate with the police. The protest has no police permission, and war-like security arrangements have been put in place.
The Aam Aadmi Party held a protest outside the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Delhi. Saurabh Bharadwaj, the party's Delhi unit chief, clarified that they harboured no personal animosity towards the BJP government but were fighting for the preservation of the Constitution and their rights. The police took the activists into custody and removed them from the site.
