Police taking John Brittas into custody

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police took John Brittas MP into custody amidst the protests being staged in Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He was forcibly picked up while he was speaking to the media.

Brittas was later dropped off on the way. Brittas told media that he was brutally assaulted inside the police vehicle. He added that the assault continued even though he informed them that he was an MP. Meanwhile, he was rushed to the hospital after developing uneasiness. John Brittas had earlier criticised the action of the Delhi Police.

He alleged that there is an intervention of a mercenary force in Delhi and that the police and central forces are acting very brutally. He warned that the police are not daring to commit atrocities in the Delhi region because there are more media there, whereas the situation is not the same in other places.

BJP alleged foreign interference in the protests. In response to this, John Brittas raised sharp counter-questions. He asked if those who hug and kiss US President Donald Trump are the ones making such allegations. He also referred to the incident of arresting Abhijeet Dipke and his group from a flight, questioning the move by stating it was handled like a security threat, even though they were obviously not flight hijackers.
