Valarmathi staging protest by tonsuring her head

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case has been registered against LPST rank holders who staged protests in front of the Secretariat. The case has been registered after naming protest committee leader Valarmathi as the first accused. The case is for holding a protest march near the main gate of the Secretariat. The police have registered the case against eight identified people and around 50 known persons. Valarmathi protested by tonsuring her head in response to the chief minister's remarks regarding the LPST protest.

The rank holders had earlier stated that if there was no favorable decision from the side of the government, they would tonsure their heads and stage a hunger strike. However, against the backdrop of no decision being made, the candidates intensified their action. The main demands of the protesters include ensuring immediate, rightful appointments for those on the PSC rank list, redefining the crucial student-teacher ratio to 1:25, and handing over aided school appointments to the PSC to put an end to bribery-based recruitments
