CHANDIGARH: Three people were arrested with explosives near the busy inter-state bus terminal in Chandigarh. The arrested have been identified as Lovepreet Singh (19), Jashanpreet Singh (21), a native of Tarn Taran, and Prabhpreet Singh (19), a native of Amritsar.

The police recovered an IED, five kilograms of gelatin sticks, a detonator, a remote-operated device, a pistol and five bullets.

The explosives were hidden in a bag packed in a tiffin box. The police said that all three are suspected to have links with the banned Khalistani terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International.

The group was arrested in a raid conducted on Sunday night following a tip-off.

It is also suspected that the gang planned to plant an IED in Chandigarh and create a terror atmosphere. Investigations are ongoing into where the explosives were obtained, what the real purpose was, and whether more people were involved in the conspiracy.
