Jamui shocker: Main accused Nandan injured in encounter with Bihar police, shifted to hospital

PATNA: The visuals of the Jamui harassment shocked the conscience of society. Since it surfaced on social media, netizens wanted to know the person behind those predatory eyes. The main accused had covered his face with a saffron cloth at the time of the incident.

On Tuesday, Bihar police confirmed the arrest of Nandan Yadav, the main accused in the case, who appeared covering his face with a saffron cloth and assaulted the victim. It is also reported that the accused was shot in the legs during an encounter while he attempted to flee. Nandan has now been shifted to a hospital.

A few days ago, a mob stopped two minor students, who were returning from coaching class near Bihar’s Jamui. They questioned the late-hour travel and started interrogating them. The mob criticised the male and his female friend for travelling at this hour and doubted their intentions. In the meantime, a few, including Nandan, started misbehaving with the girl.

At one point, even in full camera view, the accused lifted the girl and tried to run away with her. He even tried to grope her in front of the male classmate. After much pleading, the duo were allowed to leave.

The video went viral on social media, causing an uproar, with politicians themselves calling it deeply disturbing. Bihar police have already arrested three others involved in the case through video analysis. Efforts are ongoing to remove videos posted on social media that have revealed identity of the girl and her male friend.
