NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court dismissed the urgent plea filed by Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, seeking his transfer to a private hospital. With this, it has been confirmed that Sonam will remain in the government Safdarjung hospital.

The High Court, after considering the petition, issued a notice to the Centre seeking an explanation. The court also directed Sonam to cooperate with the doctors. The case will be heard again by the High Court on Thursday.

The petition was filed by Sonam’s wife, Gitanjali, seeking to shift Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to a private hospital in Medanta. The plea sought to allow Sonam to seek treatment at a hospital of his choice. The court, which issued notices to the central government, police and hospital authorities on the petition, also directed them to submit a report within three days.

Meanwhile, authorities stated in a medical bulletin released today that all necessary medical care is being provided to Wangchuk at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospitals.
