'Vijay is a dummy CM, Udhayanidhi's arrest to divert people's attention'; MK Stalin lashes out

CHENNAI: DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly criticised Chief Minister Vijay and the TVK government after Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin was arrested over alleged derogatory remarks against actress Trisha Krishnan and later granted bail. Stalin, who described Vijay as a "dummy Chief Minister," warned that Vijay's "arrogance" would ultimately lead to his downfall.

Stalin alleged that Udhayanidhi's arrest was part of the TVK government's attempt to divert public attention from the Cauvery water dispute and to keep the Leader of the Opposition out of the Assembly during the ongoing state Budget session.

He accused the Vijay government of completely failing to protect Tamil Nadu's interests and claimed the arrest was a "drama" staged using the police to shift focus away from those failures.

"Vijay is a dummy Chief Minister who cannot even secure Cauvery water for Tamil Nadu or utter a single word to stop the construction of the Mekedatu dam," Stalin said.

Udhayanidhi was arrested by Thanjavur Police from his residence in Neelankarai on Tuesday morning in connection with a case over alleged derogatory remarks against actress Trisha Krishnan. Following directions from the Madras High Court, he was later released on station bail.
