“Vijay’s government may fall at any moment!” warns DMK Chief MK Stalin, alerting cadre for early polls

CHENNAI: In the wake of a historic political shift in Tamil Nadu, DMK President and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has alerted party workers to prepare for potential mid-term assembly elections, claiming that the newly formed government led by actor-turned-politician Vijay could collapse at any moment.

Addressing party district secretaries, Stalin accepted full responsibility for the DMK’s recent electoral defeat. He projected that fresh assembly polls might coincide with the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Striking an optimistic note to revive party morale, Stalin stated, "The rising sun [the DMK's symbol] will never set in Tamil Nadu. This setback is temporary, and we will make a strong comeback."

Acknowledging the shifting landscape of political campaigning, the DMK chief attributed much of Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) success to a robust digital strategy. He called on the DMK to aggressively expand its digital footprint, remarking that the grassroots political discourse traditionally held in local tea shops must now transition to social media platforms.

To systematically analyse the election debacle and rebuild public trust, the DMK has constituted a 36-member committee tasked with gathering direct feedback from the electorate.
Meanwhile, TVK leadership has dismissed the DMK's predictions. Pointing out that their landmark victory successfully disrupted decades of traditional Dravidian duopoly in the state, TVK insiders stated they remain unfazed by the opposition's rhetoric and command a comfortable majority to complete their full five-year legislative term.
