CHENNAI: DMK leader M. K. Stalin has claimed that the TVK government led by Joseph Vijay will not complete its five-year term in Tamil Nadu and could collapse at any time.
Speaking at a function in Chennai on Sunday, Stalin said that elections could be announced in Tamil Nadu within the next few months. The event also saw more than 5,000 workers from various parties join the DMK.
Stalin alleged that the TVK government does not have a clear majority and is functioning only with the support of other parties. He claimed that the government lacks stability and could fall at any time.
"An election can be announced at any time. It could happen within three or six months. We cannot wait for this government to complete its five years. I urge all party workers to start preparations for the elections immediately," Stalin said.
Stalin also criticised the state government’s handling of law and order. He alleged that incidents of crimes against women, drug-related cases, thefts and attacks have increased since Vijay’s government came to power, claiming that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated.
