THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds up to 60 kmph are likely in the state till Wednesday. An orange alert was issued in Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Tuesday. Yellow alert in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.

The cyclonic circulation over the central-eastern Arabian Sea along the Maharashtra coast and over north Telangana and adjoining areas increased the strength of the westerly winds towards Kerala. The Disaster Management Authority informed that those living in areas prone to landslides and mountain floods should move to safer places as per the instructions of the authorities. Fishing should be avoided along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts till Tuesday and along the Karnataka coast till Wednesday.
