MEERUT: A woman with her lover killed her husband by using a snake to claim his insurance money of Rs 20 lakh. The dead is Atul Pawar (32) of Hastinapur in Meerut. Police have arrested Atul's wife Damini Pawar (30) and her lover Tushar Kumar (34) in the incident. The incident happened Friday morning.
The woman’s statement was that she found Atul unconscious on Friday morning. Though he was taken to the hospital his life could not be saved. A snake bit Atul on his right leg. When a Common Krait (Shankhuvarayan) was found on the bed, the locals beat the snake to death.
Meanwhile, Atul's family grew suspicious on the death and informed the police about it. They also told police that Damini's statement was not reliable. This took a new turn in the case. With this, the police questioned her in detail. She later confessed to the crime. She told police that the crime was committed to claim her husband’s insurance money of Rs 20 lakh and then live with her lover Tushar. The police later arrested her lover. After mixing sleeping pills in her husband’s milk, they released the snake into her husband’s blanket.
'The two got married seven years ago after being in a relationship. Three months ago, Atul started a play school. Tushar was the van driver in that school. Damini and Tushar got intimate after that. During investigation, it was found that Damini had repeatedly called Tushar. Some pictures of the snake in the box were also found on the phone. The aim was to get the insurance money,' said Meerut SSP Avinash Pandey. Snake suppliers Sonu Kumar and Uday Kumar have also been arrested.
