Mahout trampled to death by elephant in Konni

PATHANAMTHITTA: A mahout was trampled to death by an elephant in Konni elephant camp on Saturday. Mohanan Pillai, the mahout who suffered serious injuries in the attack, was rushed to the taluk hospital, but his life could not be saved. The popular elephant named Priyadarshini trampled the mahout in the elephant training camp today.

Mohanan was the mahout of another elephant named Meena. As Priyadarshini's mahout was not in place, Mohanan took the extra job to nurse it, which ended in a tragedy.

It is reported that the elephant had an injury on its trunk and Mohan was near the pachyderm to nurse it.
