Actor Vishal stepped forward praising C Joseph Vijay, who ordered the closure of liquor shops within 500 metres of temples, schools and bus stands across the state after swearing in as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Vishal praised Vijay via a post on X. Vishal has been a close friend of Vijay since his college days.

Vijay ordered the closure of 717 liquor shops within 500 metres of temples, schools and bus stands in the state. He signed the order after two days of swearing in as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

After a week-long high drama, TVK leader Vijay was finally sworn in as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. TVK made history by winning 108 of the 234 seats in the state. However, Vijay had to wait again to form the government as he was 10 short of a majority. TVK finally came to power with the support of the Congress, two Left parties and a small Tamil party, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi.
