KOLLAM: The FIR says the newlywedded woman in Kollam was subjected to brutal dowry harassment. The report says the mental harassment began within the first week of the marriage. Anju of Mannathara in Neendakara, Kollam, filed the complaint. Based on her complaint, police registered a case against her husband Nandu and his parents.
Anju and Nandu got married four months ago. Nandu and his parents started harassing her mentally in the name of dowry. Nandu compared Anju’s body with that of his former girlfriend. Nandu went to Saudi Arabia a month after the marriage, and verbally abused her via phone. Anju then went to her own house. Later, Nandu's parents brought her back, pretending to show love. Even after reaching Saudi Arabia, she faced brutal harassment.
She was threatened and forced to say that she had engaged in sexual relations with multiple people before marriage and that the videos had been uploaded on a porn site. Footage was recorded forcing her to say that she preferred working in a sex racket after divorcing Nandu. The FIR states that Nandu sent the audio recording to local residents and family members.
Ajnu said that her husband would use anything he could get his hands on like a pestle, a pressure cooker and a laptop charger to attack her. She has multiple injury marks on her body. She said that he would threaten her with a knife and record audio clips in which she was forced to make statements portraying herself as a bad woman.
