KOCHI: Ernakulam North Police arrested a private bus employee who attacked a police officer and obstructed traffic in Kochi. Kannur native Muhammed Ansar (24), the conductor of the private bus 'Alankar' plying on the Kakkanad-Fort Kochi route, Muhammed Ansar (24), was arrested in the incident.

The incident took place at Kaloor Deshabhimani Junction last month. The conductor was provoked by a car honking from behind while the bus stopped to drop off passengers. The video of Ansar getting out of the bus and threatening the car driver by stopping the vehicle and lighting a cigarette went viral on social media. The North Police, which received an email complaint about the incident, stopped the bus at Ernakulam Kacheripady Junction yesterday afternoon and asked Ansar to appear at the police station. The accused became violent at this.

Ansar then slapped ASI Sunil on his face and threw him down. More police arrived and subdued Ansar. Sunil's lower lip was injured in the attack. A case has been registered for obstructing official duties and assault.
