Change in rain warning in state; three districts on orange alert today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that there is a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. The orange and yellow alerts in various districts have been changed. Orange alert has been issued in three districts today. Orange alert is in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam.

04/06/2026: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur
05/06/2026: Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
06/06/2026: Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
07/06/2026: Kannur, Kasaragod

The IMD has issued an orange alert in the following districts. The possibility of very heavy rain has been predicted in isolated places. The IMD defines very heavy rainfall as rainfall of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for these districts. Isolated heavy rains have been predicted expected. The IMD defines heavy rain (ISOL H) as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours. Thunderstorms are expected.


Public Alert

Those living in areas prone to landslides, mudslides and flash floods should move to safer places as per the instructions of the authorities.
People living in riverbanks and downstream areas of dams should also move to safer places as per the instructions of the authorities, anticipating the danger.
People living in disaster-prone areas should ensure that camps are opened in their area and move there during the day. For this, local body and revenue authorities can be contacted.
Due to the possibility of strong winds, those living in unsecured houses and those living in houses with weak roofs should be especially careful. Those who foresee a dangerous situation should contact the authorities and relocate to safe locations as a safety precaution.
