Kallakkadal: Red alert issued along coastal areas in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has issued a red alert for coastal districts in Kerala, warning of the possibility of the Kallakkadal phenomenon and strong waves.

High waves measuring 1 to 1.5 metres and the Kallakkadal phenomenon are likely from 2.30 am today until 2.30 am on Monday. Fishermen and coastal residents have been advised to remain alert. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.

A Kallakkadal alert has also been issued for the coasts of Kanyakumari, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli, as well as the Lakshadweep coast.
