DGP's inquiry report in assembly; Anvar has no proof; Sasi outside the purview

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: DGP's investigation report that PV Anvar MLA was not able to provide evidence for the allegations levelled against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar. The chief minister's report tabled in the assembly today said that the allegation that P Sasi, the political secretary to the chief minister, did not perform his duty was outside the purview of the special team.

The vigilance is investigating eleven allegations, including illegal assets of the ADGP. The government can take further action. There is no evidence against Anvar's allegation that Ridan Basil of Edavanna was killed on the instructions of the ADGP to cover up the gold smuggling. The vigilance is investigating the allegation that the phone call of MR Ajith Kumar's wife was forwarded to the phones of smugglers in Kerala and Mumbai. There was also no evidence to prove the allegation that Ajith Kumar was supporting the RSS and goondas.

There is no evidence against Anwar's allegation that Ridan Basil of Edavanna was killed on the instructions of the ADGP to cover up the gold smuggling. The vigilance is investigating the allegation that the phone call of MR Ajith Kumar's wife was forwarded to the phones of smugglers in Kerala and Mumbai. There was also no evidence to prove the allegation that Ajith Kumar was supporting the RSS and criminal gangs.

The allegation that Ajith appointed an IPS officer to tap the phones of the chief minister, ministers, politicians and media persons is also not true. Phones are not being tapped illegally. The allegation that Mami, who went missing in Kozhikode, was murdered is baseless. As per the family's request, the investigation was handed over to the Crime Branch. Ajith's decision to form an investigation team by removing the Kozhikode commissioner led to a controversy. Handing over the Mami case to the CBI is against the policy of the police. SP Sujith Das was not found to have destroyed the evidence after taking leave.

Ajith has no role in Maoist fund

• The allegation of misappropriation of funds for Maoist hunting is also not true. The funds are being spent as per central and state rules. It is also subject to audit. The ADGP is not involved.
• In some of the cases in which gold smuggling in Karipur was caught, lapses were found in the investigation. Thrissur Range DIG will investigate and take action.
• The allegations in the solar case are not within the purview of the special team. The case was investigated by the CBI and the final report was submitted to the court. The North Zone IG will take action on the irregularities in the construction of the mess hall at Kottakkal station.

Pooram disruption: DGP did not Investigate

No investigation was conducted against ADGP Ajith for disrupting Thrissur pooram. This is because Ajith's investigation report is under consideration of the government. Ajith told the DGP that the conduct of Pooram is for the district administration and the district police. It is the duty of the police to control the crowd. The arrangements were made as per the high court guidelines and as per the protocol of the government. Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu devaswoms crossed these. The police made a scheme to strictly implement the guidelines. A devaswom created problems for the police.

Five audio recordings handed over

The five audio clips handed over by Anvar are available to the public. All four are phone conversations with SP Sujith. The other is a phone call is from a person claiming to be a police officer, who changed his voice using software help.
