Ex-serviceman self-immolates by setting fire to gas cylinder

PALAKKAD: An ex-serviceman self-immolated by setting fire to a gas cylinder in Cherpulassery. The dead has been identified as Narayanankutty (76) of Pulasserikunnath House in Cherpulassery. He set fire after keeping the tube of the gas cylinder on his body. The incident happened Thursday early morning at 3 am. The police have registered a case and suspect it to be a suicide. He left the army after 20 years of service and was residing in his hometown.
