Fire breaks out at factory under construction in Kottayam, extensive damage incurred

KOTTAYAM: A fire broke out at a factory currently under construction at Peruva Kunnappally in Kottayam on Wednesday. The accident occurred at 'PCB Xpress,' a facility intended for the manufacture of computer chips and motherboards. Owned by a native of Thalayolaparambu, the factory was scheduled to be inaugurated in December.

The incident took place around noon today. Air conditioning units were installed at the factory the previous day, and preliminary assessments suggest that a short circuit in one of these units caused the fire. Fire force units from Kaduthuruthy arrived promptly and brought the fire under control.

A section of the factory was completely gutted. Reports indicate that newly acquired expensive machinery and equipment were destroyed. A major tragedy was averted as there was no one inside the factory at the time of the incident.
