THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state general secretary S Suresh dismissed the news regarding the resignation of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Councillor R Sreelekha. He informed that Sreelekha is presently hospitalised due to health issues and shared a photo of him visiting her, on Facebook.
In his Facebook post, S Suresh said Sreelekha has been suffering from physical uneasiness for the past few days. He added that she has also been worried and anxious about whether her health would prevent her from properly carrying out her responsibilities as an elected representative.
S Suresh criticised reports claiming that Sreelekha had resigned, saying the news is not true. He also objected to media reports saying that she might join another political party or that she was bargaining with the BJP because she had not been given a post. He said such speculation was unbecoming and lacked basic decency.
Meantime, earlier reports said Sreelekha might withdraw her decision to resign as the corporation councillor. The indication came after reconciliation talks with BJP leaders. Senior leaders, including BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, had held discussions with Sreelekha.
Her dispute with the corporation is cited as the reason behind her decision to resign. BJP sources said they had been able to convince her about the issues related to the matter.
