
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government's new liquor brand 'Minnal Magic' will hit the market by the end of this month. The half-litre bottle will be distributed through Beverages Corporation outlets. It costs Rs 400. 9000 cases of liquor will be produced daily. Later, it will be increased to 13,000 cases. Minnal Magic is also being marketed in addition to the government's present product, Jawan Rum.
The liquor is produced by Malabar Distilleries in Palakkad owned by the state government. The Malabar Distilleries foreign liquor plant in Menonpara, Chittoor was inaugurated on February 21. The construction of the plant was completed in just four and a half months after the foundation stone was laid. This plant has the capacity to fill 240 bottles of liquor per minute. One lakh litres of water is required for liquor production daily. Water is presently supplied from a plant in Malampuzha under an agreement with the water authority. There are also plans to install a rainwater tank in the next phase.
