
NEW DELHI: The taxi driver accused of the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Delhi is a history sheeter known for committing grave crimes, said the police. The accused has five cases against him, including an attempt to murder. Investigations are ongoing about the crimes committed by him, even in Bihar. Meanwhile, the accused, Bablu alias Bashu Kumar Singh, a native of Bihar, was shot in the leg by the police while trying to escape from custody. He has been admitted to the hospital.
An 11-year-old girl was abducted, raped and murdered on Monday morning in Delhi's Chhatarpur area while she was sleeping on a footpath with her family. Her parents are daily wage earners. The family was living on the streets after their landlord evicted them due to rent arrears. The incident took place while they were looking for a rented house. Hearing screams, the father looked and saw the accused running away with his daughter. The father attempted a chase, but the driver pushed the girl into a car and fled. He took her to a forest area near the Faridabad-Gurugram road, raped and killed her after smashing her head with a stone.
