Orange alert in Kottayam, Ernakulam warned; Heavy rainfall expected in next three hours

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in two districts of the state over the next three hours. The warning was issued for Alappuzha and Kottayam districts, and the districts have been put on Orange alert. Isolated areas in these districts may experience moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h.

The weather forecast indicates a likelihood of moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h in various districts today. Accordingly, a 'Yellow Alert' was issued for Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department clarified that there are no restrictions on fishing activities along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep.
