KOCHI: A holiday has been declared for more schools as part of the FIFA World Cup Finals. The holiday was declared on Monday for various schools in Ernakulam. The World Cup Finals between Argentina and Spain starts Monday morning at 12.30.
If the match ends within the fixed time, it will be around 2:30 am. The trophy presentation ceremony is expected to conclude by 3:00 am. However, if the final goes into extra time and a penalty shootout, the match will end even later in the early hours of the morning. Considering this, the school management decided to give a holiday for students.
The school authorities said the decision was taken to encourage students' passion for sports while also taking into account their mental and physical well-being. Regular classes will resume on Tuesday. The decision has also been welcomed by the parents.
The examination scheduled for Monday at St. Joseph English Medium Secondary School in Thrikkakara has been postponed to another day. Earlier, a holiday had been declared at all three schools of Bhavans in Kozhikode. The Bhavans principal said the school has decided to declare Monday a holiday to give students and their families an opportunity to enjoy the final match together.
