Student collapses in class; ‘Haven’t you died yet?’ asks teacher; protests erupt

KANNUR: A teacher at St Joseph UP School in Kunnoth, Iritty, has come under fire for allegedly mistreating a student who collapsed in the classroom.

The teacher, Lindo Jose, allegedly asked the student, who has health issues, “Haven’t you died yet?” after the child became dizzy, collapsed and lost consciousness. The student's parents also alleged that the teacher kicked the child.

The student has been experiencing health problems regularly, and the school authorities were reportedly aware of the condition. The school had therefore been taking necessary precautions and giving the child special attention. However, Lindo Jose, who had joined the school only two days earlier, allegedly behaved harshly towards the student.

Following the incident, the teacher came forward with an explanation. Lindo Jose said she was unaware of the student's health condition. She also denied assaulting the child, saying that she had only scolded the student.

The incident has sparked widespread protests, with the teacher facing strong criticism over her alleged conduct.
