THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A couple and their three-year-old daughter who went missing from Kattakkada have been traced to Ernakulam, bringing relief to their family. Shankar, a native of Veeranakaavu in Poovachal, his wife Athira and their daughter Dhwani had been missing since October 3. It was Athira’s mother who lodged a complaint with the Kattakkada police after the family could not be contacted. According to her mother, Athira called her after seeing media reports about their disappearance.

Shankar and his family had been living near the Sree Dharma Sastha Temple at Veeranakaavu. Bank officials had tried to contact Shankar over the phone on Wednesday in connection with a loan but could not reach him. They then visited his house and found that the family was not there.

The bank officials also contacted Shankar’s mother. She later visited the house but could not find Shankar, Athira or their daughter. When they could not be contacted over the phone, the family filed a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, the Kattakkada police registered a case and launched an investigation.
