
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala urged the media to maintain its credibility and not compromise it for the sake of breaking news. The home minister also pointed out the practice now seen among media to not correct fake news even if the misinformation is glaringly out in the public.
Ramesh Chennithala was inaugurating the distribution of media awards and book launch in connection with the commemoration of B.R.P. Bhaskar. The minister said that responsible media work should not be neglected. The example set by B.R.P. Bhaskar should be followed.
Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan inaugurated the memorial service and said that BRP Bhaskar was a textbook for the media. Ramesh Chennithala presented the Bhaskar Foundation's BRP Excellence Award to Dhanya Rajendran, Chief Editor of 'The News Minute', and the Bodhigram-BRP Media Award to Biniya Babu, Reporter of 'Kerala Kaumudi'.
Dr Jacob Pulikkan received the S.N. Subbarao Memorial Native Rural Development Award. The book 'Mannum Manushyanum Samoohya Prashnangalum’ was released at the function. JS Adoor presided over the function. Anilkumar P.Y, P.V. Rajagopal, M. Geethanandan, Mahesh Mishra, Venkatesh Ramakrishnan, Sriraman Koyen, J.S. Indukumar, Dr Meera Bhaskar, and Binu S. Chakkalayil spoke at the event.
