KOCHI: A wanted drug cartel chief was arrested by excise in Kochi. A fully loaded gun was found from the assailant at the time of the arrest. Njarakkal native Libin aka Jimbruttan and close acolyte, Nayarambalam native Christopher Rufus aka 'dark uncle' fell into the perfectly weaved trap by the enforcement assistant commissioner and Ernakulam excise department.

Three-gram MDMA and two-gram charas were confiscated from the two. Jimbruttan was a former member of a famous quotation group. A wedge within the team made Jimbru form his own group, taking a potpourri of work from drug selling to contract killing. Syam, a second fiddle of Jimbru was earlier arrested by excise in a covert operation which eventually led to this case.

Jimbru controls the drug movements in Vytilla and Edapally premises in Kochi. The assailant also had possession of guns and other lethal weapons. The excise already made a plan and the detailed report was passed to Njarakkal SHO Rajan who readied steps to trap the cartel head. The police barged into Jimbru’s house at late night and were shocked to find wanted criminal Rufus along with him. Both tried attacking and evading the forces but were finally brought down by the might. The two have been remanded.
