New changes at KSRTC; waiting list system to be introduced for ticket reservations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister C.P. John said KSRTC will soon launch a tourism division. He also said the possibilities of starting Bharat Darshan trips under KSRTC would be explored. The minister was speaking after inaugurating the Lakshadweep and Hyderabad luxury package services launched by the KSRTC Budget Tourism Cell.

C.P. John also officially launched new software developed for the Budget Tourism Cell and a waiting list facility at a function held at Hotel Chaithram in Thampanoor. With the new software, passengers will be able to book tickets online. The new system will also introduce a waiting list for ticket reservations, similar to the system followed by Indian Railways.

“KSRTC’s plan to lease buses has received a good response. I will contribute two buses to Thiruvananthapuram district from my MLA fund. We have decided to coordinate the activities of the Water Transport Department and KSRTC,” C.P. John said.

He added that boating services would begin on the Parvathi Puthannaar from September 30 using solar boats leased by the Water Transport Department from Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL).

“KSRTC has also started discussions to participate in cargo movement from Vizhinjam port. For this, trucks will be taken on lease,” the minister said.
