THIRUVANNATHAPURAM: The Communist Party of India will not approach the Left Democratic Front leadership to seek the post of Deputy Leader of the Opposition. This decision was taken at the CPI state secretariat meeting. The party will not initiate discussions regarding the Deputy Leader position; however, they are open to considering it if the CPM extends an invitation.
The party will not participate in LDF parliamentary party meetings until a decision is reached, though it will continue to function collectively within the Assembly. The secretariat maintains that there is no need to alter its earlier stance.
Maximum participation of party workers from Thiruvananthapuram district will be ensured for the march to the Legislative Assembly scheduled for the 14th. This is the first agitation organised by the CPI since the UDF government assumed office. The meeting also decided to support the protests against the Chief Election Commissioner and to actively participate in agitations held both within the state and in Delhi. Reports from the districts regarding the election defeat were reviewed; the reporting process has been completed in six districts, while it will take place in the remaining eight districts in the coming days.
