ALAPPUZHA: Locals have raised suspicions over the death of a one-and-a-half-year-old boy who was hit by a train at Ambalappuzha. They have demanded a detailed investigation into the incident. They said there were several unanswered questions about how the child reached the railway track, which is located at a higher level and surrounded by bushes. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
A local woman said it was difficult to believe that the child, who usually did not venture far beyond familiar surroundings, could have travelled such a distance and climbed the uphill path to reach the railway track.
The child, identified as Thrinav, son of Vineeth and a native of Kakkazham in Ambalappuzha, was killed after being hit by a MEMU train on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred at around 6 pm when the train was travelling towards Kollam. The initial assessment was that the child had crawled to the railway track near his house. The body, currently kept at the Medical College Hospital mortuary, will undergo a post-mortem examination before being handed over to the family on Wednesday.
