PALAKKAD: Body parts believed to be those of a woman and a child were found stuffed in sacks and dumped in the Bhavani River in Attappadi, Palakkad. The remains were found in three sacks in the Chavadiyur area in Pudur. Police said the bodies are believed to be around four days old. Forensic officials have reached the spot and started an examination.

The sacks were spotted by locals who had gone to the area to graze cattle around 3 pm. They alerted the police, who reached the spot and recovered the remains.

Body parts were found in two of the sacks. When one of the sacks was opened, police found two heads- one believed to be that of a woman and the other that of a child. A preliminary assessment suggests that one of the deceased was a woman aged around 30. The remains are likely to be shifted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital for further examination. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
