THRISSUR: A video, probably a vlog taken by one of the eight students killed in the Kaipamangalam accident, emerged on social media. The victims were students of PSNA College in Dindigul. The postmortem of two students has been completed at Thrissur Medical College. Authorities said that steps are being taken to complete the postmortem of the others quickly.
Normally, to reach Ernakulam from Dindigul, the most common route is the Paliyekkara toll plaza route. However, the students travelled from the Guruvayur side. It is not clear why they did so. Their friends or relatives have no idea what led them to choose this route.
The Rural SP and the Thrissur District Collector have reached Thrissur Medical College and are assessing the situation. Officials are talking to the relatives of the deceased students to gather more information.
The accident occurred at Panambikkunnu Centre around 12 midnight on Friday after the car the students travelled in rammed into a parked lorry on the national highway. The bodies of Salem native Vishwa (20), Dindigul native Surya (20), Madurai native Santosh (20), Madurai native Prasanna (20), and Dindigul native Yuvasanjith (20) were identified. The other three have not been identified. Santosh stayed in the college hostel, and it was after he went home that he decided to join the others for vacation.
