Protests by KSU activists, Veena George

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has recorded statements from doctors of Pariyaram Medical College in the case involving the attack on former minister Veena George by KSU activists. Reports say the doctors stated that she had no visible external injuries. They also informed SIT that she was admitted to the intensive care unit because of the swelling in her neck. The officials have collected her medical records from the hospital.

Meantime, the SIT is expected to submit a report to the Director General of Police (DGP) against Veena George’s former gunman for giving a false statement in the case. Abhilash had earlier told the police that he gave a statement claiming KSU activists attacked her with weapons at Veena George’s direction. Based on that statement, cases were registered against the KSU activists, including charges of attempted murder.

KSU activists staged a black-flag protest against Veena George at Kannur railway station on February 25, 2026.The railway police registered a case, invoking charges including attempted murder following reports that the minister was injured during the protest. M C Athul, V V Akshay, Bithul Balan, C H Mubas and Ahmed Yasin were named as accused. They were granted bail after spending 16 days in judicial remand at Kannur Sub Jail.
