Vadakara MDMA Case; Police clearance certificate mandatory for all temporary appointments in schools

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Police Clearance Certificate has been made mandatory for all temporary appointments in government schools. This applies to the appointment of teachers also. Although the directive had been issued earlier, it was not implemented for temporary appointments. It has now been made clear that the directive must be strictly followed. The new directive is against the backdrop of teachers being involved in an MDMA case in Vadakara.

Schools have also been directed to specifically mention ‘police clearance certificate mandatory’ in advertisements inviting applications for the appointments of temporary teachers.

In addition, from now on, only permanent employees should be entrusted with handling banking transactions at offices of the education department and schools. The directive said that there should also be a designated person responsible for such transactions.

All bank accounts must be checked on the last working day of every month. After verifying their accuracy, the details must be certified by the police chief. The official phone number of the head of the institution must also be linked to the bank account.
