THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Divya S Iyer has dismissed reports of a fight between officials in Kerala’s Local Self-Government Department. ‘There is no rivalry, and no competition either,’ she wrote in an Instagram post. The rift is between great truths and small lies.
I have so far heard myself being blamed only for loving, embracing and praising. Now, when I hear words such as rivalry and competition, I firmly believe that it is not about me. These are emotions we have never felt towards anyone. The truth is that we have carried out our duties in accordance with clear directions,’ penned Divya S Iyer. She also requested to put an end to what she described as imaginary and baseless narratives.
The reports of a possible rift emerged after two separate initiatives were announced by officials in the Local Self-Government Department to make the state garbage free. T V Anupama, secretary of the department, announced a programme titled ‘Nirmalam’, while Divya S Iyer, principal director of the department, introduced the ‘IC 100 Challenge’.
The announcements were followed by reports suggesting that differences between officials in the department were intensifying.
