THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: What began as a shared college dream between two friends has now evolved into a tech-driven reality that is guiding thousands of students. Shimeon Samuel and Tejas Susheel, alumni of the College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET), are the masterminds behind ‘edme AI’, an innovative learning platform designed to streamline preparation for highly competitive exams.

The primary objective of 'edme AI' is to help candidates identify high-probability topics for examinations like the UPSC Civil Services and provide a structured, clear direction for their studies. Demonstrating its capabilities, the platform recently released a curated list of 266 essential topics specifically targeted at the UPSC Preliminary examination. The service offers free foundational access for beginners, with a fee structure applied only for advanced modules.

Both Mechanical Engineering graduates, the duo’s shared passion for combining education with technology during their college days naturally led them toward entrepreneurship. Shimeon Samuel is the son of Dr. Samuel T. Varghese and Dr. Rachel Samuel from Mannanthala, while Tejas Susheel is the son of retired HLL Regional Manager Sushil Chandrakumar and N. Thara Bai from Pattom.

Inside edme AI: Core Features

The platform leverages artificial intelligence to offer a comprehensive, digital-first learning experience:

  • Smart Prep Platform: Engineered specifically as an AI-powered learning portal for competitive examinations.
  • Online-Exclusive Modules: Currently operating entirely through digital classes and virtual learning environments.
  • Comprehensive Content Delivery: For every topic, the platform provides historical background, core points, quick-revision notes, interconnected concepts, and tailored question models.

Rapid growth and future expansion

Launched with the vital backing of the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), edme AI has rapidly built a community of over 5,000 active users. Notably, 500 users on the platform have already successfully cleared the UPSC Prelims.

To maintain academic accessibility, the founders keep the vast majority of their study materials completely free, charging exclusively for their specialised UPSC prediction module. Looking ahead, the startup is preparing to expand its portfolio by introducing dedicated courses for the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) by the end of July.

"Our goal is not to provide shortcuts," co-founder Shimeon Samuel stated regarding their vision. "Our true intention is to help candidates identify critical focus areas and guide them to understand the core subjects deeply."
