'A stressed Mammootty warned me not to reveal news'; director Kamal on 'Rappakal' days

‘Rappakal’, the 2005 film starring Mammootty. Nayanthara, Sharada, Geethumohandas, and Balachandra Menon, achieved considerable success at the box office family while the songs were topcharters. Director Kamal has now revealed through Kaumudi Movies the incidents that happened during the shooting of the film.

Kamal:

"It was during the time that Mammootty’s daughter Surumi had labour period. His wife had already flown to America to be with her daughter while Mammootty was stuck up with work. The tension was very palpable on his face and is normal with every father. However, he had another apprehension about people on the set knowing that Mammootty was becoming a grandfather. The news was thus held.

Only me and writer Razak knew about the truth. Mammootty gave me strict orders not to reveal the news to anyone. Due to the time difference between the two nations, Mammootty would be always on the phone talking with his wife, enquiring about the situation. Even during night scenes, the actor would constantly be engaged with his mobile phones, which was starting to be a sensation during those times.

In this tension, Mammootty would often vent his anger at assistant directors when they reached him to inform about the new scene."
