KOCHI: Actor Jayan Cherthala, Vice President of the AMMA Adhoc Committee, alleged that the Kerala Film Producers' Association was raising false accusations against AMMA by presenting false claims before the public. He said that when the producers had requested Rs 1 crore for office construction, AMMA provided the amount, and even now, Rs 40 lakh is yet to be returned.
"The Producers' Association had requested that Lalettan, Mammooka, and others perform a show for free to help clear their debts. The event was scheduled to be held in Qatar and Lalettan even spent his own money to book a flight ticket from the US to attend it. But in the end, they couldn't organize the event, and the show failed,” said Jayan.
“A star is a key component of any film. This is true not only in Malayalam cinema but worldwide. How do superstars emerge? Because their star value is recognized and accepted by the public. When posters featuring Mohanlal, Mammootty, or new stars are released, audiences rush to theatres on the first day itself. That’s why producers are willing to pay them the amounts they demand.
Suresh Kumar sir is someone who has produced films like Aaram Thampuran. He is a producer who has effectively utilized Mohanlal’s box office potential. He has made several superhits with Mohanlal. Back then, there were no such issues. The reason there were no complaints in the past was that they were making profits. Now, they are not producing films anymore. It’s the new generation of producers making films now, and many of them are turning out to be hits. Those who once benefited from the stars are now coming forward with accusations," alleged Jayan Cherthala.
