My husband is innocent; it's unfortunate that I can't say this: Sneha on sexual assault complaint against Sreekumar

Two months ago, a woman working in the mini-screen came forward with a sexual assault complaint against serial actors Sreekumar and Biju Sopanam. Sreekumar and Biju Sopanam, who are active on social media, did not respond to the complaint. Now, Sreekumar's wife and film serial actress Sneha have responded to this complaint. Sneha says that the accusations against her husband are false. She said these things in an interview granted to an online channel.

'I am often invited to programmes organised in connection with Women's Day. When I go to them, I hear about women's empowerment. To be honest, there is no need to empower women anymore. We are already empowered. The situation in society is now favourable to women and children. Now, we need to think about two things.

One, we hear news that we do not expect to happen. It is related to drugs and atrocities committed by youngsters. The main thing that women should think about is how they can intervene in this. Another thing is that even when we use all aspects of the law, there is a problem. Two months ago, pictures and videos of my husband were on all the news channels. It was a sexual assault case. No one investigated what the truth was.

If that case had been investigated in detail, such wrong news would not have happened. Not a single complaint has been filed. The complaint against my husband was filed by a woman. I am not at liberty to name that person or reveal what the case is. I am also a woman. I also need the same protection that they are experiencing. It is my misfortune that I can't say that.

I know that it is a 100% false complaint. We will deal with it legally. Even so, I cannot tell you the state of mind I felt when the complaint came out. No one thinks about that. By filing such false complaints, it mars the integrity of real incidents and complaints filed by others. Everyone associated with us knows that this is a false complaint. We will prove it. I have faith in the legal system. When a complaint like this comes out, the situation faced by people like us would be serious. These things are capable of breaking the family. It even hinders work. We will return proving our innocence. We will go to any length to ensure that,' said Sneha.
