Another shock ahead of release: Coimbatore cable TV telecasts 'Jana Nayagan', owner arrested

CHENNAI: The pirated version of Vijay's upcoming film 'Jana Nayagan' was aired on a cable channel. The film was illegally aired on a local cable channel in Coimbatore on April 11. The channel owner was arrested by the police in the incident. The film was aired on the cable channel amid a serious investigation into the online leak.

S Palanisamy (44), a native of Karumathampatti in Coimbatore and owner of the channel 'Rashi Prime Movie', was arrested. The police took action following a complaint filed by Mohana Priya, the Coimbatore East unit deputy secretary of Vijay's political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam.

Immediately after receiving the complaint, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police K Karthikeyan formed two special teams to investigate the incident. During the investigation, the police confirmed that the film was illegally obtained and was aired. Palanisamy was produced in court and remanded. The police seized computers, five hard disks and other electronic devices from the channel office. The office was also sealed.

On April 9, the HD print of the film got leaked. Following this, the Tamil Nadu Cyber ​​Crime Branch arrested six people and removed over 300 illegal links to the movie from various websites.
